moraghebeh

moraghebeh

h 21cm

tells of an episode I experienced in Ardebil many years ago.
I was the student of a dervish at the time
and we went to the countryside to visit a friend.
after dark we left the house and meditated in what seemed
to be a garden, sitting cross-legged on the ground.
moraghebeh means meditation in Farsi,
especially the Sufis use it,
and we meditated for a long time.
the next day I saw that the ground we had sat on
was a chicken yard, totally covered in droppings.
the piece at the centre of this sculpture is a chicken feeder,
with my intervention protruding from it
